On Tuesday, a Madhya Pradesh High Court Judge turned a routine journey into a public message on energy conservation, as Justice Dwarka Dhish Bansal cycled to the Jabalpur Bench in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for fuel-saving measures.
Justice Bansal travelled nearly three kilometres from his official residence to the High Court on a bicycle, aiming to encourage citizens to opt for eco-friendly transport for short-distance travel wherever possible. The Judge said cycling is not only beneficial for fuel conservation but also promotes healthier living.
He further noted that he occasionally cycles around Jabalpur along with Chief Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, underlining that members of the judiciary too, share civic responsibilities like ordinary citizens.He remarked that judges are “not exempt from ordinary civic responsibilities.”
